LEARN HOW WE ARE PROACTIVELY HANDLING THE VOLUNTARY RECALL

To Our Valued Customers:

Our goal is and has always been to put safe and compliant products on the market. We care about food and where it comes from and you, Natierra’ s consumers, are our number one priority.

We became aware of the heavy metal (lead) levels above US limits and as a result are taking action to conduct a thorough evaluation and implement any necessary corrective action to prevent reoccurrence. The heavy metal (lead) level found in the product is considered above limits due to the suggested serving size stated on the Nutritional Facts Panel. Lead is known to be a naturally occurring compound found in the environment and in the earth, and naturally occurring in fruits and vegetables.

We want our customers to know that our team is working to strengthen our food safety and testing programs to ensure incidents like this do not reoccur.

The impacted lots are as follows:

FAQ

Voluntary Recall Questions

Each country establishes its own food safety standards to protect public food supply. The United States Food and Drug Administration monitors and regulates levels of lead in foods in the U.S. and we are committed to meeting these standards. Lead in the environment can be naturally occurring or may be present from past industrial uses. Lead in the environment can settle on or be absorbed by agricultural products such as fruits or vegetables. We are investigating the US FDA’s results and will implement actions necessary to prevent recurrence. The event is isolated to the two Blueberry lots listed in the recall notice (Lot Number: 2021363-1 Best By Date 12/2024 and Lot Number:  2022026-1 Best By Date 01/2025), no other Natierra lot or product is impacted by this recall.

We are committed to the safety and quality of our products and will be implementing the changes necessary to prevent recurrence. Our team is currently conducting an investigation.  Two lots of product sourced from the country of Lithuania (Europe) are the subject of the recall(Lot Number: 2021363-1 and Lot Number:  2022026-1). These two lots of product were identified by US FDA’s routine monitoring to be outside the level of US public health standards they have established. The health effects of lead exposure generally require long term or ongoing exposure. There have been no reports of illness from consuming the blueberries at this time.

We’ve been in business since 2002. Over that time, we’ve built a reputation for quality, safety, and strong corporate social responsibility. In 20 years, we have never heard a report of anyone – adult or child – falling ill because of this or any other product. We were able to confirm that the test results that prompted us to voluntarily conduct the recall were limited to only two lots of our blueberry product. In other words, this is an isolated incident. Only freeze-dried blueberry packages numbered “2021363-1 Best By 12/2024” or “20222026-1 Best By 01/2025” are affected. This recall is an exception, and you can continue to enjoy our products safely.

We’ve been in business since 2002. Over that time, we’ve built a reputation for quality, safety, and strong corporate social responsibility. In 20 years, we have never heard a report of anyone – adult or child – falling ill because of this or any other product. While this is the first time we’re confronting a recall, we are very deliberate about the diversity of our sourcing, in part to assure the highest levels of food quality and safety. We’ll be conducting a thorough review of this situation and implementing steps to make sure it never happens again. We’ll share the findings of that review – as well as the decisions we implement to ensure this never happens again - as soon as we can.
